Rebecca Esparza, Cancer Warrior

Rebecca is my personal heroine and the love of my life. After battling Stage IV ovarian cancer in 2001-2002, she was declared in complete remission despite metastis to the liver and lining of her intestine. She's lived to tell about it and is a true miracle. Sure, she has plenty of side effects from the grueling three months of eight-hour chemotherapy treatments every day of the week, but she's still with us.

If that wasn't enough, she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2008. Right before Christmas of that year, she was told by her oncologist that she was miraculously cured -- there was no explanation they could offer as to why the cancer had left her body and she didn't require any radioactive iodine treatment.

Rebecca has a strong will to live life to its fullest and her personal motto is, "Carpe Diem" or "Seize the Moment." She knows how to LIVESTRONG and is willing to advocate on behalf of all survivors at the local, state and national level to press the cancer agenda and find more funding so hopefully we'll have a cure someday soon.

Her energy and passion are unequalled by anyone I know. Her commitment and dedication are unbelieveable. She now has three birthdays: Aug. 15, 1971; Oct. 13, 2002 and Dec. 3, 2008.

Hi Rebecca,
I am so glad to read your wonderful story. My 50 yr. old son, Tommy, just had a thyroid tumor biopsy, yesterday, May 20, 2009. We won't know if it is cancer, or what kind, or anything, until the end of this week, or mid-next week, but we'll deal with it, either way. We had a dear friend pass away from ovarian cancer, a fe years ago. I was awful. It is wonderful to hear of your testimony, of your miraculous healing, of cancer in your thyroid, liver and intestine. We have had many healings in our family, and it befuddles the doctors, but they see it, and have to believe it. We have also lost many family members and friends, to different kinds of cancer. My husband, Frank, is 76. When he was 48, he had colon cancer, in two different primary sites. Big Surgery!! Colon and some of small intestine, removed. He survived. Ten years later , he had it again, below the original surgery site. More surgery, 10 YEARS TO THE DAY, OF THE FIRST SURGERY.and he IS A SURVIVOR!!! I had lung cancer, in Jan., 2001---didn't know it, but in Oct. 2004, I found out, by accident. Had something called a "Virtual Physical", paid for by my sister-my Guardian Angel-w/o whose pressure and interference, in my life, I wouldn't be here!!! I USED TO SMOKE !!! I had my right lower lobe removed,on Nov. 30th, '04, and here I am, 68 yrs. old, in May,2009. I AM A GRATEFUL SURVIVOR !!! My Daughter, now 48, had cervical cancer, and a hysterectomy, in 1997. Had some recurrence, in nearby tissue, but she IS A SURVIVOR-so far. Please pray for her.
Attitude has a lot to do with it, don't you think??!! You surely seem o have the right one...CONGRATULATIONS, FOR BEING ALIVE !!! We will hold you and yours up in prayer., and you BE HEALTHY, ALSO...Keep up he good work....GOD BLESS YOU !!!
